Matar Aaloo Choka Recipe | Potatos Peas Mash | Green Peas Mash Recipe

This is a variant of regular Potato Choka / Potato Mash.
Incusion of green peas gives all together a different green texture , text and flavour.

Preparation Time: 10 Minutes
Cooking time: 25 Minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients:


  • Fresh or frozen Green peas 2 cups
  • Potatoes 3 medium
  • Fresh mint leaves 1/2 medium bunch
  • Salt to taste
  • Red Chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black Pepper powder - a pinch
  • Crushed black peppercorns 1 teaspoon
  • Red chilli flakes 1/2 teaspoon
  • Butter 1 tablespoon
  • Coriander Leaves- Chopped for garnishing


Method:

  1. Boil the potatoes in a pressure cooker - (time can vary based on the quality of Potato) , and peel them off once boiling done. Crush the potatoes and leave aside.
  2. Take out a deep non-stick pan. Add green peas, torn mint leaves, sufficient water and start heating till it comes to boil.
  3. Cover and cook for another 2-3 minutes , check if the peas have become soft.
  4. Strain the peas and mint into a bowl and put the mashed potato and mix them.
  5. Place the potato peas mixture in a blender jar. Add salt, 1 teaspoon red chilly powder, a pinch of black pepper powder , crushed peppercorns and red chilli flakes. Blend into a smooth mixture.
  6. Heat butter in a non-stick pan. Add the mixture and cook for 2 minutes, stirring continuously.
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves on top and serve as an accompaniment / side dish.
