Chicken 65 Recipe

Chicken 65 is a deep-fried and spicy chicken dish which has its origin from Chennai. But today it is one of the most popular chicken starter known universally. It can be prepared using boneless or bone-in chicken and is usually served with onion and lemon garnish. 

Ingredients:


  • 500 gm chicken cut into small pieces.
  • 1/2 cup yogurt 
  • A pinch of ajinomoto 
  • pinch of pepper
  • 1 tsp soya sauce 
  • 1 tsp chilly sauce 
  • 2 tbsp corn flour 
  • 2-3 green chilies 
  • 1 tsp ginger paste 
  • 1 tsp garlic paste 
  • Salt as per taste
  • Red food coloring 
  • Oil for deep frying

Method:


  1. Mix the chicken pieces with yogurt, salt and pepper. Marinate for 15 minutes. 
  2. Now heat 2 tbsp. oil and cook the chicken in it until the pieces are tender and all the water evaporates. Keep the chicken pieces aside. 
  3. Mix ajinomoto, soya/chilly sauce, corn flour, gingergarlic paste, red coloring and salt in a vessel and marinate the cooked chicken pieces in it. Marinate for 4-5 hours. 
  4. Deep fry the chicken pieces in oil for 8 to 10 minutes and drain. 
  5. Also deep fry the sliced green chilies and decorate on the top of the chicken pieces.Serve hot with sliced onion and lemon wedge.
