Hariyali Tikki Recipe | Green Potato Spinach Mash Patties

Ingredients:

  • 3 - 4 medium potatoes 
  • 3/ 4 cup fresh or frozen green peas shelled
  • 1 tblsp green chillies chopped. 
  • 1 small bunch of fresh spinach 
  • 1 tsp chaat masala 
  • 1 tbsp ginger chopped 
  • oil for deep frying 
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves chopped 
  • 2 tbsp corn flour 
  • salt to taste 

Method:

  1. Wash the potatoes , boil and peel off.
  2. Grate the boiled potatoes.
  3. Boil the green peas, drain and rinse with water properly , and mash the peas.
  4. Wash spinach leaves properly 2-3 time in water.
  5. Blanch spinach leaves in plenty of salted boiling water and finely chop.
  6. Take out spinach leaves and squeeze out excess water.
  7. Mix grated potatoes, peas and spinach.
  8. Mix in cut green chillies, cut coriander leaves, cut ginger, chaat masala and salt.
  9. Mix in cornflour for binding.
  10. Divide the mixture into  equal handfull portions.
  11. Shape them into a ball and then press it in between your palms to give it a pattie / tikki shape.
  12. Heat up sufficient oil in a kadhai.
  13. Deep-fry the tikkis in hot oil for 3-4 minutes or until crisp.
  14. Serve Tikki with Tomato Ketchup or Coriander Chutney
