Nasi Goreng or Indonesian Fried rice is ranked 2nd in the list of world's most tastiest food.(Please explore yourself on the rankings). The splendid combination of rice cooked along with egg, chicken and prawns does the magic.

Ingredients:

1 cup uncooked white rice
1/2 pound skinless, boneless chicken breasts, cut into thin strips
1/2 pound peeled ,deveined prawns
2 cups water
2 eggs, beaten
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 medium sized onion, chopped
1 leek, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
2 green chile peppers, chopped
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon ground cumin
3 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (Indonesian kecap manis)

Garnishing:
Chopped spring onions, cilantro leaves or half fried egg.

Method:


  1. Boil water in a saucepan and put rice in it.
  2. On low-medium heat, simmer until rice is tender and water is almost absorbed, 15-20 minutes
  3. Take a baking sheet and spread the rice over it. Keep it for refrigeration for 1 to 2 hours.
  4. Take a non-stick skillet , grease it with some oil, and heat it.
  5. Pour eggs into the skillet. Cook until it becomes firm. Flip the omlet and cook over another side as well for few seconds.Slice the omelet into strips
  6. Take a wok and heat vegetable oil in it.
  7. On high heat , Stir in the onion, leek, garlic and chile peppers.
  8. Cook, stirring, until onion is soft, 3 to 5 minutes. 
  9. Stir in the chicken, prawns, coriander, and cumin, mixing well. Cook and stir for approximately 5 minutes.
  10. Mix in the cold rice, sweet soy sauce, and omelet strips; cook until shrimp are bright pink and chicken is no longer pink ,probably another 3 to 5 minutes.
  11. Garnish and serve hot.
