Tortillas | Soft Taco Shells | UAH Recipe | Tortillas Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cup Corn Flour or Masa Harina
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour/white flour/maida
  • 2 cup warm water
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1 tsp olive or corn oil

Method:

Take a large bowl, and put corn flour, all-purpose flour ,salt and cooking oil.
Now start pouring water gradualy and knead the mixture to form a soft dough.
Divide the dough into handfull ball shaped parts.
Take 2 plastic wraps and placing a ball in between flatten it into wide circular shapes using a rolling pin.
Diameter of the flattened ball will depend upon the size of the balls initially taken.
Heat a griddle and lightly grease it with olive oil.
Over medium heat cook the tortillas one 1 side for 14-15 seconds over medium flame, then turn it on another side and allow it to cook over low heat for almost 30 seconds. Then turn again to the first side and over medium heat cook for few more seconds by pressing either with a clean kitchen towel or a flat laddle.
The tortillas will start puffing up little and get separated into 2 layers.
Repeat the process with other dough balls.

Notes:

  • Don't get dissapointed if they are not divided into layer , this will come with more practice. The main thing is dough shouldn't be either too dry or too wet and sticky
  • These tortillas are normally stuffed with various choices of ingredients and taste great as a roll.
