Deep fried tortillas | Deep fried Taco Shells | ZAL BUTH

Ingredients:

  • 2 cup Corn Flour or Masa Harina 
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour/white flour/maida
  • 2 cup warm water 
  • pinch of salt 
  • Olive oil / Corn oil / Vegetable oil for deep frying.

Method:


  1. Take a large bowl, and put corn flour, all-purpose flour and salt.
  2. Now start pouring water gradualy and knead the mixture to form a soft dough.
  3. Divide the dough into handfull ball shaped parts.
  4. Take 2 plastic wraps and placing a ball in between flatten it into wide circular shapes using a rolling pin.
  5. Diameter of the flattened ball will depend upon the size of the balls initially taken.
  6. In a skillet take sufficient oil (thickness should be sufficient to dip the tortillas) and heat the oil sufficiently. Then deep fry the tortillas on both sides till they turn golden brown.
  7. Take them out through a slotted spoon and place on absorbant paper napkins to absorb excess oil.
  8. Deep fry all the tortillas in the same way.


This process is almost similar to preparing Tortillas , the only difference is instead of cooking over a slightly greased Griiddle we are deep frying them. They also are served with various stuffing in between.
