Water caltrop pudding | Singhare Ka Halwa | Buffalo Nut Pudding

This particular recipe is very healthy and good for those who are fasting(allowed to take fruits).
This is rich and very tasty dessert. Its also called as "kuttu ka halwa"

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 kg green singhade (fresh water caltrop) 
  • 50 gm thickened milk or khoya
  • 100 gm sugar 
  • 1 tbsp Ghee or Vegetable Oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder (elaichi) 
  • 5-6 cashew nuts (kaju) 
  • 5-6 almond (badam) 
  • few drops of edible yellow colour (optional for better appearance)

Method:


  1. Peel Water caltrops / Singhare and grate them. 
  2. Heat ghee in a pan and fry the grated Caltrops/Singhara in it.
  3. Grate knoya and add to the above and mix.
  4. Stri until the mixture becomes light brown. 
  5. Boil 1 cup milk and sugar in a container. 
  6. Add boiled milk and sugar to the pan stir continuously until caltrop mixture thickens. 
  7. Then add 2-3 drops of colour, stir and remove it from the flame. 
  8. Garnish with cardamom powder and finely chopped almond and cashew nuts
  9. Serve hot.
