Sakkarpara Recipe | Sugar Coated Sakkarpara


Sakkarpara is a very popular gujarati sweet snacks. Lets see how to make sakkarpara. Their are 2 variants of the recipe. In one of the variant dough itself is kneaded in sugar syrup. In the second type sugar coating is applied at last after frying sakkarparas. This is the second variety.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup maida / flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 glass water

Method:

  1. Start pouring water slowly and knead to a soft dough. Set aside covered for 10 minutes.
  2. Take handful of dough , dust with some flour and roll to disc shape using a rolling pin. The thickness of disc should be around ½ cm. 
  3. Now cut the disc into small  rectangular pieces using a knife.
  4. Heat oil in a pan / Kadhai and deep fry sakkarpara pieces. 
  5. When the sakkarpara pieces turn golden brown take them out.
  6. Now make sugar syrup by heating sugar and water together. Once the syrup turns thick in consistency switch off the heat.
  7. Put the sakkarpara pieces over the syrup and turn them over to have uniform coating across. Set aside to cool.
  8. Enjoy the sugar coated sakkarpara. It can be kept in air-tight containers for 2 weeks.
